Mallory was a great guide, kept us safe, very knowledgeable of the river, great smile, definitely confident. Her side-kick (sorry, dude, I can't remember your name, insert it [here]) was a hoot as he tried stand-up comedy on the bus on the way back. The equipment was really good, clean. The Lower Yough river, in the end of July, is a bit boring, making the trip not quite as thrilling as we would have liked, but there were moments when we went through a few class 3s and 4s where it was briefly exciting. It was more like a lazy river trip, with some fun people on the raft (hi, Johnnie and Charlotte), with the occasional river thrill. Which might be what others really prefer. Don't get me wrong -- it really was a nice trip, great view. Now the Upper Yough might have been too demanding -- apparently there's lots of class 4 and 5 rapids -- I don't know, seasonal timing is everything. Next time we'll go earlier in spring on the Lower Yough or go on the Upper Yough. Call ahead and understand the river conditions better before making your choce. (Note: the Middle Yough apparently is basically people floating down the river.)
