We spent an afternoon in Williamsburg with Dom and can’t recommend his Made in Brooklyn Tours enough. Everything about this tour was just spot on from our first booking contact with Dom via email (easy, friendly and helpful) through to our half day walk (fascinating and just brilliant fun) and follow up (more top shopping tips on request). Dom is a real ambassador for sustainability and small businesses in Brooklyn. He’s built his tours (which cover a number of different areas of Brooklyn, not just the Williamsburg one we took) from the ground up, by getting out there to know and understand the place he is from in detail. But unlike some ‘tourist' tours, everything feels organic, more like hanging out with a friend. So whether you’re meeting Dom’s fellow (sometimes famous!) Brooklynites, eating locally-made ice cream or chocolate, drinking Brooklyn-roasted fresh coffee or taking in the views of street art, the East River and across to Manhattan, you feel at home. We spent a relaxing but full afternoon walking around Williamsburg with Dom - so do make sure you take your walking shoes, though you’ll get a chance to make some stops. Dom himself has great knowledge and is a charming and funny host. We had a great laugh. Thanks Dom. And if you’re thinking of spending some time outside of Manhattan, off the tourist trap route – do it. Can’t think of a better way to get to know Brooklyn.

Every year we do something different and special for my daughters birthday. This year she selected to do a Made in Brooklyn tour of Red Hook one of the neighborhoods she has not explored since moving to Brooklyn. Well it was a great pick and Dom as a tour guide was the icing on the cake. He is so knowledgeable about this special area and let us in on some secret finds. We even learned a few new interesting facts and enjoyed exploring shops, artist workshops, a winery, tasting delicious key lime pops and chocolate to boot. Dom made the tour so delightful we even forgot how cold it was outside. Thanks Dom we will be back to tour DUMBO with you soon.

After our first tour with Made in Brooklyn tours (DUMBO) a couple of years ago, we decided to repeat with Dom, this time with his Williamsburg tour. Of course, also this time we were not disappointed! Dom really does know his job and does know Brooklyn very well. The whole tours is about 3-3.5h, all by foot, so be ready to walk. Dom takes you around the hipster neighborhood of Williamsburg, explaining the history and taking you to special places, shops, coffee shops, etc. It was really fun and informative Important tip!: The tour meets directly in Brooklyn, but if you are doing the tour in the weekend, be sure to check the subway times/interruptions!!!!! Unfortunately we didn't, and arrived late to the meeting point (our bad!). Dom graciously waited for us and we couldn't be more grateful. But if you want to avoid the embarrassment, be sure to check before you leave :)
