Oh my gosh, we can't say enough about this experience and about the personal service of Liquid Alaska. Ryan (general manager) went above and beyond to help turn a potentially disastrous cancellation from our cruise line into a wonderful experience. He communicated with us regularly when booking and even personally picked us up and brought us back to our cruise ship to make sure we made our cruise on time. Talk about customer service! Liquid Alaska specifically chooses to NOT work directly with cruise lines, and I applaud that and want to support their business model - book through them instead of a cruise excursion (which marks the price up 50%). As for the actual tour, Kels and Paul were incredible tour guides, fun, patient (my son and I were more interested in the rocks and kept lagging behind) and knowledgeable about the landscape. Be sure you understand that this is ~1 hour of serious paddling, a hike, and 1 hour paddling back before booking - it's a solid workout, but the reward is incredible. We were the ONLY people at the glacier and you get physically close enough to touch it. You learn about the history, local landscape, and sadly, get to experience climate change first hand - it is eye-opening to see the impact this close. Don't wait too long, as they anticipate you won't be able to see the glacier over a ridge in 5-10 years. Oh, and their rain gear did the trick - an 'atmospheric river' started dumping rain on us as we were paddling back, and we came out totally dry at the end. Huge thanks to Ryan and the Liquid Alaska team for making this tour memorable for us and the kids, and especially for making my wife's birthday a special day. Highly recommended, A+ service, way better than a cruise excursion!!

What a great experience and family bonding excursion. We are in our mid 50’s and went with our 17yr old son and had a blast. Our two guides, Lena & Kels were great fun and very knowledgeable when it came to the glacier and rock formation. Paddling to the glacier was not as hard as we feared with good instruction and breaks at the right time. We would not have experienced the glacier the way we did had we not taken this tour and we got some great pictures that not many people will have. It truly was an adventure and something I would highly recommend.

Before I get into all the details - Please note, this is an active tour! You need to be able to group paddle a canoe out to the glacier, and hike uneven terrain. I had Bryce and Kelby as guides. They were both very pleasant and made the tour memorable. Bryce picked us up from the docks and provided a great tour of the city, as we headed out to the glacier. Once at the glacier, Kelby answered a bunch of questions about the history of Mendenhall Lake/Glacier. You really get to learn a lot! They also made it fun by telling jokes and having group chants. I think it’s those little things that made the excursion above and beyond for me. You are provided a water and snacks, which are nice touches. The tour goes from 9:30 to 3ish so you so need to plan a bigger breakfast as you don’t eat a meal with the tour. As a solo traveler, they made me feel welcomed and even provided me with great recommendations for future adventures and meals. I really appreciated not only Kelby and Bryce, but the other staff as well. They were such a great group, and I’m really happy I got to experience such a big adventure with them!
