While on our Princess Cruise through the Inside Passage we booked this fantastic tour on our own. Communication with Alaska Liquid Tours was good and everything from the pickup at the ship to the tour was smooth and easy. After a 12 mile van ride to Mendenhall Lake, we were outfitted by our guides Joey and Spencer and then the 13 of us in the group paddled the 40 foot canoe to the glacier (~40 minutes). We then took a short hike from the ‘beach’ to the actual glacier. It was amazing to walk on the ice, see all of the flowing water and the shapes and formations in the ice. Truly gives an entirely new appreciation for the glaciers. Plus, Joey and Spencer were informative, funny and kept us safe.

We are so happy you found us and joined our adventure to the glacier. We find it extremely important in Alaska to get away from the crowds and enjoy a memorable moment in the Alaskan wilderness. The ice is always giving us a beautiful surprise as it is constantly changing and showing off. Joey and Spencer are great- thank you.

What an amazing experience. On our cruise of Alaska we stopped in Juneau and I am so happy we found this tour. We booked through them instead of the cruise line and it was worth it. They picked up right up at the port and on the way to the park we saw a black bear. They had all the gear we needed for outer coats, pants, even boots! Canoeing across the lake gave us great views of the area and then around the bend we saw the glacier. We learned a lot from the guides and we were able to walk on the glacier in small groups. It was an unbelievable experience and the guides seemed to really enjoy their jobs! I would recommended any one who is able to take time to go and see this while you are in Junea!

What an amazing day! Glacier trekking and a black bear! A true Alaskan experience. All of our guides are amazing and truly love to be able to interact with the Mendenhall Glacier everyday- thank you for making that possible!

Our tour was led by Ryan and Grant in the first week of June, who were both very knowledgeable and funny. Ryan, in particular, has a fun-loving spirit that was infectious. They kept saying how perfect a day we were having in terms of temperature, weather, and wind. And it was certainly great. On the hour-long, single large canoe ride over there were great views of Nugget Falls and Thunder Mountain. The guides had lots of information about the local wildlife, other trips/hikes, the timeline of the retreat of the glacier, and other notable tidbits. Getting in and out of the canoe was easy and the tour provided absolutely everything you'd need or want. Anyone who is not in bad shape would be able to do this tour fairly easily. There is walking with some elevation involved. We walked up to the glacier over a rocky moraine and put the crampons on. I had no issues whatsoever with slipping with these on. Saw all the notable features that were accessible that day, the glacier changes constantly. But just being up there and on it, seeing the vastness out before you was worth it on its own. Grant was nice enough to get me a bottle full of glacier run-off water which I still have (thanks to checked luggage). I hope Ryan has upgraded his own glacier water's container by now. To cap things off, on the boat ride back, we got an extended close-up view of the porcupine that lives on an outcropping of land. My first one I've seen in the wild. Finished up with some hot cocoa back at the van. Great day.
