We met Abby at the dock, she checked us in and when everyone showed up we headed out on the 30 min ride to Mendenhall Lake. Abby was very informative on the ride, showing us points of interest and native animals in the area. Once we arrived we met our second guide Micah and he got us set up with our waterproof gear, pants, jackets, boots, helmets, paddle, drybag, and life vest. Once we were all geared up we headed out to the lake. We were fortunate enough to have 14 folks 16 with our guides to take out the 37ft canoe - it was an experience not soon to be forgotten. They loaded us up and we rowed to the glacier. They gave us a few breaks on the way out to regroup and to enjoy the gorgeous scenery around us and to take pictures along the way. Once we made it to the glacier shore we had a snack (water, protein bar, and gummies)we put on our hiking gear - helmets and walking sticks and hiked up to the glacier. We then put on our crampons as one of the guides walked around to check the stability of the glacier prior to us walking on it. We had a brief safety class about walking with Crampons and we were off - on Mendenhall Glacier - it was amazing. Once done, we hiked, rowed, and then were able to enjoy Hot Chocolate, Coffee, Tea and a snack as we returned all of our gear. Then we were taken back to the drop off point. It was nothing short of Amazing!!! If you are ever in Juneau I highly recommend this tour.
