Unfortunate COVID ignorance and bad attitudes.
My main issue and only reason for the low rating is the following: after we had all worn masks on the ride up, most people had them off when hiking around the top (at a distance and in the open air). As the guide was loading us back up, he said “I assume you guys don’t care about masks, so feel free to keep them off on the ride down” (he never put his mask on when close to us). This pressured everyone to take them off (except our group of two). He came around the back once more and told us specifically to feel free to take off the masks, it was awkward and he made it feel “weird” to keep them on.
The rest of the ride was spent with people shouting over the noise and laughing with no masks. My second issue with the company is that the Jeep was very packed considering the circumstances. 8 adults and 2 children, they say the max capacity is 14 but it was cramped and we were touching with 10 people. Extremely close quarters considering the circumstances. The owner responded to my yelp review by saying I should have chosen a private tour, I do believe there is some middle ground between private and taking some responsibility.
It is frustrating that this company chooses to cram 10 people from around the country (NJ, CA, AZ) and actively discourage mask use. Times are tough and so many businesses are suffering while Arizona Safari Jeep Tours does not do their part to get us back in track.
The guide was nice enough and a good driver, would have a been a great tour if he wasn’t so anti-mask.
This is a fantastic tour company if you do not believe in COVID and/or the efficacy of masks. Otherwise, other companies are taking much more responsible approaches.

You had the option to take a private tour which you declined. There are so many opinions and different viewpoints and it is definitely difficult times. I appologize for any miscommunication you might have had from the guide. We are the only locally owned Jeep tour company and we are trying to stay a float during these unfortunate times. I hope you can have a positive perspective and come and see us for a second chance. Much Love.
