By far one of our favorite things to do as a family in Sedona! To be honest, we were a bit skeptical because we were not booking with the well known (Insert color) Jeep Tour. As it turned out, we made the right choice and booked through Arizona Safari Jeeps instead!
Soon after we settled in, we knew this would be a pleasant, yet adventurous tour as we were offered water and heavy blankets for added comfort. The Jeep was new and quite impressive to the mechanically inclined in the family! For the rest of us, we were thrilled with the smoothness (yet not too smooth, for the added thrills and giggles) and comfort while navigating the large rocks and crevices along the dirt road. Apparently, there a few unique features with the Arizona Safari Jeeps that no other jeep company can replicate. Not sure what they are, but perhaps it is the easy back entry or the heated seat options, but more likely the suspension (??? - I, for one, am not the mechanically inclined of the bunch so I wasn't paying that much attention). The jeep was super clean and easy to maintain social distancing with the 10 seats, 5 along each side (there were 8 of us - 6 adults and 2 kiddos, ages 5 and 7).
The Mogollon rim tour is known as one of the bumpier tours and while we were a bit nervous at first (ok, maybe it was just me), our guide CK was a master of the road and we immediately felt as ease. There are side rails and hanging handles to hold on to for the bigger bumps in case you need them. CK was awesome and provided a lot of educational information about the inhabitants from long ago, the surrounding area, and its formations (good for covid distance learning!) while also allowing plenty of time for picture taking along the way.
Once at the top, we walked up a small incline to where we were presented with an awe-inspiring view and were fortunate enough to be able to spend significant time admiring the color changes splashed across the rock formations as the sun began to set. Up there, CK transitioned into both a hiking guide and a photographer. He helped those of us that were brave enough (again, not me!) scale the uppermost rock platform safely. CK staged and took beautiful photos of our family and separate ones for the other two who joined our tour.
I highly recommend this tour and above all, CK and the 10 seater Arizona Safari Jeep. When we come back, we will book again with them on another adventurous tour! Thank you for the awesome memories!!!
