Musée de Broadway

Aperçu
We’ve brought together a team of internationally renowned artists, designers & historians — both from Broadway & the experiential world — to design the museum. It will be educational, but told in a fun, accessible, brightly colored way! We are going to share information about the history of the Broadway theaters through projection mapped videos, the timeline of Broadway told through immersive environments that will leave people’s Instagram feeds full of great photos and give guests a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a Broadway show by spotlighting all the jobs and what it takes to create a Broadway show. There are other surprises and sections of the museum that will excite fans young and old!

Firstly, this museum is huge. So much bigger than I expected and larger than it looks from the outside. Secondly, this is a must do museum and a unique way to present the history of american theatre. Broadway is a staple of NYC and an icon for Theatre around the world. Through a series of picture perfect rooms full of costumes, props, model boxes, set pieces and instagramable locations. This museum first takes you through the history of American theatre via iconic musicals and plays of the various time periods before taking you on a journey backstage to discover how theatre is made, what roles are backstage and how the venues operate. Its also a unique way looking at how a modern museum experience should attract and entice people as well as educating them. I can't recommend this hidden gem enough and wish it all the best of luck.

My 11 year old daughter convinced me to go to this museum and I’m glad she did. I was expecting a tourist trap type of setup and was completely taken back at the wonderful job that was done. If you are a fan of the theater you will enjoy this. Definitely allow for at minimum of an hour to get through everything but 1 1/2 is probably best if you want to really take it all in.

I had a great time visiting The Museum of Broadway on it's opening day. Rooms dedicated to various Broadway hits like Hair, Company, Rent and many others feature costumes, props and in some cases even detailed miniature sets from the shows - but also lots of interactive spots for photos and selfies. The result is a fun, engaging trip through the history of Broadway. The latter part of the tour is constructed to give you a backstage experience and a glimpse at what goes on behind the curtain. One of the things that impressed me the most were the friendly, informative staff members in each room of the museum. One note: some spaces are a bit narrow, so navigating around other visitors could be a challenge if the museum is busy (timed entry tickets help with this though), and it was clear that there were some features that had not yet been added, so the experience will no doubt continue to improve.
