How come this place is becoming one of New York City’s top tourist attractions??? It’s obviously way below NYC’s standards!!! Yes, the place is instagramable, but c’mon, we’re talking New York City here, there’s an instagramable spot at the turn of each corner -and maybe even for free!!!
The place is no museum in any way -not that I was expecting it to be, but not a single takeaway I can recall; and just because you’re given a few frozen treats throughout your stay, doesn’t make it ice cream themed, and neither does it the color pink. I don’t even think ice cream is the first thing to come to mind when seeing color pink nor vice versa. This place well could have been named The Museum of Bubble Gum, The Museum of Cupcake, The Museum of Cotton Candy, or even The Museum of Pink.
Regarding wheelchair friendliness, although the premises are fully accessible, “attractions” are not very well thought out for people on wheelchairs. The giant sprinkles pool, which is the paramount spot of the visit, can hardly be enjoyed from a wheelchair.
Being honest, it would have been more amazing if The Museum of Ice Cream were an ice cream shop with a thousand different ice cream flavors from around the world; THAT would had been up to New York’s standards!!!
Would I recommend this place??? Well, browse through the posted pictures, because that’s exactly what you’ll get, nothing more than a few pinkish Instagram backgrounds, which by the way seem to be the same ones since forever and are already wearing out.
Overall, what saddens me the most is the huge and beautiful potential the words “Museum of Ice Cream” bear by themselves being massively wasted.
A tip if you still choose on visiting: buy tickets online and fill in the forms online too; you must hand in a liability waiver per guest and filling it in on the spot is tedious and in detriment of the experience.
