Overall this was a good tour, but it was a really long day because it was so hot and humid out. We really enjoyed the horse drawn carriage ride through historic Charleston. Our tour guide was excellent! Only had 45 minutes to shop the Market. By the time we walked back the few blocks to the tour bus I was very hot & tired. Luckily the boat tour had air conditioning on the lower level. There was also seating upstairs, some seats in the shade and some in the sun if you prefer to be outside. The boat tour was informative but a lot of the same info we heard on the carriage ride. Last stop was Boone Hill Plantation. We arrived at 1:45 and were told to go directly to the house tour. So we all hurried over to the house and sat under a covered area that had some shade. The tour guide came out at 2:00, but that time was for individuals who had arranged for that time. Our tour bus group was told to wait for the 2:15 tour time. Had we known this, we wouldn't have rushed over so quickly. It was too hot to walk through the gardens, etc so my daughter and I just sat another 15 min waiting for our tour trying to stay cool. Once inside the air conditioning felt great! The tour guide was excellent and it was very interesting. Only got to see the lower level of the house though. By this point my daughter wasn't feeling well, so we walked to the butterfly garden area that was selling water, ice cream etc. We ended up sitting there for 45 min until the bus left because it was too hot for us to walk around the plantation. I would have liked to take the tram to see the plantation and walk around but we were just too hot and tired after the long day. The 2 hour bus ride back to Myrtle Beach was long because the air conditioning in the bus wasn't keeping up with the heat outside. I think this tour is too long during the hot and humid summer days. I would rather just take a seperate vacation to Charlestion and take some of these tours spread out over a couple of days.
