Visited with a bus trip that included the travel/transportation, admission to both Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Looking at the individual admission rates on the board, the place is not worth its salt. Comparing it to places such as Old Sturbridge Village, Upper Canada Village, and the Cooperstown Farmer's Museum, Mystic Seaport needs to kick it up a few notches. No interpreters dressed in period clothing, no one around to explain the history of the buildings and community and the ships, some narratives and placards completely missing from the buildings. Some beautiful artifacts and ships to see but little/no information and not terribly authentic like I had hoped. If they want to continue the museum's mission, I suggest that perhaps they make some improvements and strive for something more appealing and informative.

Dear Roger2,
We are sorry to hear of your lack-luster experience at Mystic Seaport Museum recently. It appears your main complaint is that there were not enough staff to explain the local history. Although we do have 30 minute narrated cruises on the river 7 days a week that cover the history of many of the ships and community as well as post a schedule of interpretation talks and demonstrations on trades throughout campus, I can imagine there may be gaps during the day where these offerings are not available for all of our guests, especially if weather becomes an issue or if our guests have a tight schedule and need to see multiple venues in one day.
Our visitor experience and ticket value is something we take very seriously and we will certainly assess our offerings with our current price levels-but the bottom line is we would like to make things right with you. We are starting a new schedule with our interpretation team staring June 19 and have many exciting special events lined up for July and August this season- including the return of our Wooden Boat Show August 20-22. If you would like to make arrangements with me I would be happy to invite you back as our guest. You can call our main line 860 562-0711 and ask for “Gabe”.
Kind regards,
Gabriel Gresko
