Incredible. Fun for family. The boat ride is a must. If you have kids they will love building their own ship that they can take home.

The Maritime Museum is one of the best I have been to. Each area fully explains the local history with Whaling being a highlight due to being able to go on board a genuine whaling vessel from the period.

I wanted to like this, but unless you are really really into nautical life I would not bother. There’s hardly anyone there to explain anything, we actually on had one knowledgeable gentleman who was in the print shop. Every child I saw looked extremely bored. The worst part was it was $30 per person and there was nothing you could read about any of these things, and honestly, I could have cared less. No pavement or grass, just dirt to walk on.

Dear Pickasmom, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your less than exceptional experience at Mystic Seaport museum, especially when you "wanted to like this". Mystic Seaport museum offers a multitude of experiences for those avid maritime history buffs as well as those that want a more casual experience. For example guests can take a peddle boat or rowboat for free as part of their admission and get out on the water. This summer on our main village green, we had the rare opportunity to showcase the Deep Sea Challenger, the private submarine of James Cameron who directed numerous Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar, Terminator and Titanic. We also had a full schedule of demonstrations, programs and planetarium shows, not to mention 30 minute river cruises available for guests. Anyone walking past the children's museum, performance stage, playscapes or Voyage to the Deep exhibit can hear the small ones loud at play. Perhaps it was just a hot/humid day when you visited or maybe you made those observations right before closing? Either way I would be interested learning more about your visit and would like for you to contact me directly at 860 572-0711. -Gabriel Gresko
