I loved the visit to the three different wineries. I was so disappointed that we did not go to Napa at all. That was the reason for my booking the trip. I did enjoy Sonoma and the town. Since I paid $149 for the trip It was so disappointing to only get half the trip. I feel I should get part of my money refunded. This is not good business and if nothing is done will not recommend this company. I recently have booked 5 trips on this vacation with Viator. Deborah Harrison

Hello Deborah, Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. We want you to feel comfortable sharing good or bad news with us. I'm so sorry that your tour experience with us fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, the day before your tour, one of our Napa wineries canceled the tasting service due to COVID cases among their staff. Instead of canceling the entire tour, we felt that it was better to include one of our Sonoma partners that were kind to accommodate us on such short notice. Please contact our office on 415-850-8917 as we would like to make up for your inconvenience. We hope you'll come and see us again soon! Xavier General Manager Gray Line San Francisco

We had absolutely wonderful time. We had an amazing guide, Doug, who would give us helpful tips and a friendly driver named Milo (I hope I’m spelling the names correctly)… Our stops were: 1. Golden Gate Bridge (quick stop, took beautiful pics) 2. Roche Winery (very engaging staff, we received a tour and generous pours and helpful tips on being educated vineyard tourists) 3. Muscartini (also generous with their pour, their wines were honestly our favorites) 4. Lunch at Sonoma Square 5. BR Cohn Winery (Beautiful scenic vineyard, and they had a wedding that day. I’m sure their wine was delicious… I had enough wine and capped off at this point and the only pour I received was lukewarm since the bottle was out in the sun.. but people around us seemed to like what they were drinking) I was amazed at how accommodating the entire staff is Gray Line was. We started off with several people who missed the starting point and apparently the manager Richmond drove the stragglers to the Golden Gate Bridge which was our first stopping point. We also lost couple people but Doug and the team were incredibly patient and calm. Absolutely spectacular customer service! My SO and I are wine novices (don’t know much wine lingo, etc.) so I’m not sure if this is the tour for wine enthusiasts but this is an incredible value if you’re looking for a nice day trip on a trip to SF. The best part was, the tour starts and ends at SF so we didn’t need to worry about driving.

My wife and I are newcomers to San Francisco and Napa Valley, so this was a nice introduction. I purchased this trip as a Christmas present to her, as a nice little weekend get-away, and I am overall pleased with the experience. It was interesting to hear the tour guide explain the historical context behind the places we passed through, both in the city of San Francisco, and in Sonoma county. Her doing so made the long drive seem shorter than it actually was, which we appreciated. I have to mention that it was a particularly hot day in Sonoma County, and the air conditioning on the bus did not work well -- obviously this may not happen every time, but it could be a factor if you choose to do this trip during a hotter season. The photo opportunity at Golden Gate Bridge was a good touch. I was a bit surprised and disappointed that none of the wineries we visited were on the original itinerary. The first winery, BR Cohn Winery was far and away the best winery of the day -- classic breathtaking Napa sights, and the wines were phenomenal. I would go back there a thousand more times. The second winery was decent; I think it was called Madonna Estate Winery. The tour guide there was very charming, had a good sense of humor, and explained things in a way that everyone could understand, even if you had no advanced knowledge about wines or wine-making. It was a family owned winery, and it certainly did have a family-like vibe. Wines were a step down from the first winery, but still solid. The third winery, Sutter Home, was honestly very disappointing. I'm not a wine expert, but Sutter Home, to me, isn't exactly an extremely elegant wine where I would go out of my way to visit the vineyard. It actually didn't really feel like a vineyard; it felt more like a wine souvenir shop. The workers there were pleasant, but not really wine enthusiasts or experts per se. My wife won a contest where she guessed the number of corks in a container, and her prize was getting 30% off of anything in the store; to me, if you win a contest, you should get something for free. I thought that was kind of lame to be quite honest. As we drove through Sonoma County, our tour guide told us about all of the wineries we were passing, some of which sounded amazing, like Carneros Winery (which was brought in pieces from France, and resembles a French chateau). As I listened to all of this, I couldn't help but wonder why we weren't going to THOSE wineries instead. But like I said, it was a nice day overall, and I would recommend this if it is your first time in Napa and you don't really know which winery/wineries to choose. Having a pre-planned schedule is easy and convenient; all you have to do is get on the bus. It is obviously advantageous to have a bus chaperone you for the day, so you don't have to worry about having a designated driver. If you are serious about wine, go to BR Cohn and Carneros on your own. We will probably focus on those two next time, and get an airbnb nearby.

Hello 37haigm, First of all, I would like to thank you for the detailed review you wrote. We appreciate your kind words about the knowledge of our tour guide and the positive feedback about Madonna Estate and BR-Cohn Wineries. Our tour description is just a sample itinerary of the wineries that we usually work with. We work with several partners that can accommodate us at different times, which makes us impossible to set an itinerary in stone for every day we operate. Again thank you very much for touring with us and I hope to see you back in the future on any of our Gray Line San Franciso tours. Xavier General Manager Gray Line San Francisco
