Our guide, Jack, was very knowledgeable, friendly, easy to hear and understand. We learned a ton of interesting history and culture facts about New Orleans. He is everything you'd want in a tour guide- just fantastic! 5 stars for the guide and history, but only 3 stars for the food. It was pretty clear that the most popular establishments with the best quality food in the French Quarter wouldn't be able to accommodate a food tour group, so we had shrimp po-boys, jambalaya, and gumbo that were fine but underwhelming. The pralines and praline cookies were excellent, but the bulk of our hot food was just okay (except for the chargrilled oyster - that was a highlight!). After the tour we enjoyed a fantastic muffuletta and jambalaya at Napoleon House at our guide's recommendation, but it wasn't included in the tour. I would say it's still worth it for the experience of learning about New Orleans food culture and history.

This was an amazing way to start our New Orleans adventure. My teenage son and I tried this tour on our first day in the city and what a great choice it was. Our tour guide, Kristi, gathered us up at the starting point and got us going right on time. She was engaging and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and history and was able to share a lot about New Orleans beyond just the food. Of course the food was the highlight! Everything we tried was amazing. It was a great way to sample all of the iconic New Orleans favorites so we knew what we wanted more of later in the trip. Its hard to choose a favorite stop because they were all so good. But we did end up back at the New Orleans Creole Cookery for dinner the next night because we enjoyed the tour samples so much. Kristi also gave us a number of great dining and local attraction ideas that we ended up checking out later in the trip. Even if you're not an adventurous eater, this is a great way to sample and potentially discover something new that you would never have tried before. Highly recommended, totally family friendly and a great way to explore the French Quarter and try the wonderful food.
