The New Orleans Culinary Food Walking Tour was an extreme disappointment. While Susan, our tour guide, was lovely, the food served and the establishments visited were not up to the standards one thinks of when in New Orleans. It was basically a walk down North Peters Street and the French Market. Not the French Quarter nor "behind-the scenes look into local kitchens" as listed. Having been on several beer tours I was under the impression that this tour would be similar to a brewery tour, where you sit at one table as a group, do a tasting and then have a brief discussion with other attendees about the beer. That was not the case at all. There were about 12-13 of us in the group and we had to sit at several separate tables. There was hardly any interaction as a group. We were served, in order: wrapped shortbread praline cookies, palas (fried rice cakes), boudin sausage, bread pudding, shrimp po' boy, chicken & sausage gumbo and chargrilled oysters. (Our group of three left before the last item.) Upon our arrival to the French Market, Susan said that one of the stalls served the best crab beignets but they were NOT included in the tour and cost $9. Boudin sausage was served to us from another stall in the French Market where there was no seating. It is difficult to eat boudin standing up. Then the bread pudding was served cold and the other part of the restaurant provided the shrimp po' boy, which had no seasoning on it. It seemed that all of the food was cold, except for the palas. For the $234 the three of us spent on the tour we could have gone to Antoine's or Arnaud's and had a much more memorable New Orleans culinary experience. Lastly, the online picture of the shrimp appetizer on the mashed avocado looked nothing like food we were served.

Plenty of great food with frequent stops. Suzanne our guide was excellent. She made us feel like family and provided enjoyable background of the foods and places we stoped. I was glad that most of the tastings provided an opportunity to sit down and enjoy the tasting with fellow tour members. If I had the time I would have enjoyed including the cooking class.

Tour guide Jack was terrific, he got around to everyone on the tour to personally get to know us all and gave some great insight into the local food and history of the city
