Jackson Square
Jackson Square, formerly called Plaza de Armas or Place D’armes, depending on whose forces occupied the area, was originally a military parade ground and the focal point of the city. In 1851, the space was renamed for Andrew Jackson, hero of the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812 and seventh president of the United States.

Fantastic experience. Such fun to discover the French Quarter at my own pace. I hate being pushed by tour operators so this self guided tour is refreshing. We were able to stop, eat and enjoy the ambiance without being rushed. Looking for other tours by Welcome Walks USA!!!
