This neighborhood and its cemetery tells the story of New Orleans from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War. Stunning antebellum mansions, lush gardens, unforgettable stories, and beautiful photo opportunities await! We keep our group size under 12 guests to make in a fun, personal experience.

Meet at Gracious Bakery ( food there not bad). Restrooms available. St Charles Trolley stops right in front of the bakery and there is street parking if you can find it. Trolley 1.25 per person and they want exact amount in cash. About 10 in the group. James was our guide and he did well explaining the homes and small details about New Orleans. He does stop by a cemetery and gives some details on it but we don’t go in a walk around. Beware of uneven sidewalks. Recommend this tour if you want up close look of these homes ( some famous ones) .

Thank you for so much for this wonderful review and recommendation! I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a review that is so full of practical tips. The streetcar is a wonderful way to get to the neighborhood and Gracious Bakery is a tasty place for us to meet our groups before we explore the beautiful and gracious Garden District. James is good at explaining our history, culture, and architecture. Thanks for the helpful hints about the streetcar, the café, and the sidewalks. It looks like you’re ready to visit us another time! It was great to hear about the gentile history of the city and to escape the sometimes hectic and gritty element of the French Quarter. I love both the flowers and the homes on this tour. Our guide was SUPER informative, and we especially appreciated the advice to check out Magazine Street. I DEFINITELY recommend checking out this tour…it is a must, even if only in NOLA a few days.
