New River Gorge
Our four-hour (half-day) tour covers approximately 75 miles of country roads (take me home), maintained and unmaintained dirt roads, and challenging Jeep spots. Cross the New River Gorge from rim to rim twice with views ranging from mountain top overlooks to the river valleys of the National Park. On your adventure, you’ll make stops in a ghost town, at waterfalls, at coal mining ruins, learn the proud history of the area and hear some tall tales. So come out and spend some time behind the wheel. In a Jeep, there is no limit to the fascinating places you can explore!

Best tour ever! Cory was our guide and took us on the craziest, twistiest, mountain roads. He gave us a little history of the area as well, but didn't bore us with constant chatter (but would answer any questions we had!) We went on Easter afternoon and there were even easter baskets in the jeep for our girls. Everyone in the family loved it!

My husband and I spent an afternoon last June on the Jeep Tour operated by New River ATV. Our very friendly and knowledgeable guides, Emma and Brandon, did a great job of narrating our tour with interesting facts about wildlife and history of the area as we drove through areas of the New River National Park we wouldn’t have been able to access on our own. The tour included stops at a variety of points of interest including historic Thurmond, a breathtaking mountain top overlook, beautiful waterfalls, old coke ovens, and much more. We drove mostly on jeep roads which offered some beautiful river and gorge views as well as a few fun and exciting obstacles to navigate. New River ATV has very comfortable and well-maintained vehicles and top-notch guides. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to experience the beauty and history of the area on back roads limited to 4WD vehicles.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed and positive review of your Jeep Tour experience with New River ATV! We're happy to hear that Emma and Brandon enhanced your adventure with their friendliness and deep knowledge of the local wildlife and history. It sounds like the tour provided a unique opportunity to explore hidden gems of the New River National Park, including historic Thurmond and stunning natural sites. We're glad that the Jeep roads offered both beauty and a bit of excitement with their challenges. Thank you for highlighting the quality of our vehicles and the professionalism of our guides. We appreciate your high recommendation and are delighted that you enjoyed exploring the less-traveled paths of the area. We look forward to welcoming you back for another adventure!

Be prepared to be in a Jeep for 95% of the time off road and not really on New River Gorge trails, but on backwoods.

Hi Theresa, We take our customer service and guest experience very seriously. We are sorry that you had expectations for your Jeep tour that were pretty far off from what our Jeep tour is. As your tour was gifted to you, we understand you might not have fully understood what the tour encompassed. We aren’t sure why, but it seems you thought there would be a good amount of hiking involved. Our Jeep tour is advertised as covering approximately 75 miles of country roads, maintained and unmaintained dirt roads, and challenging Jeep spots while crossing the New River Gorge from rim to rim twice with views ranging from mountaintop overlooks to the river valleys of the National Park. We advertise stops in a ghost town, at waterfalls, at coal mining ruins, and learning the history of the area. Nowhere do we advertise any notable amount of hiking or anything you would have expected outside of our tour description. You are in the National Park boundaries for 80% of the off-pavement section of the tour. Part of the allure of this tour is being able to go to places in the park that our guests wouldn’t be able to access on their own. As it is a Jeep tour, there is a lot of driving which is why we have walkie-talkies in the Jeeps so your guide can be in consistent communication with you and share aspects of the area with you as you drive in between stops. Reviews such as the ones you’ve left us – now over multiple platforms - really hurt our small business as your expectations not being met aren’t based on the expectations we set for the tour. We’re sorry you didn’t get the experience you were expecting, but please realize that it was because you were expecting an experience that is different from what we advertised.
