The observatory is a can’t miss in NYC. We visited ground zero, the 9/11 Museum and the observatory all in the same day and it was fantastic. We also ate in the restaurant (One Dine) and it was surprisingly good! We were there from 10am til 4pm or so. Only word of caution - leaving later in the afternoon can cause some elevator delays; but no more than 20-30 minutes.

Great views. Bought my ticket on Groupon way better price. The attraction is at the 911 area. The elevators are thrilling.

Even with the upgraded tickets, one still must stand in the same line, ride the same elevator, watch the same introductory (and pointless) video, receive the same iPads, have access to the same floors, receive the same I-don’t-really-like-my-job-all-that-much-but-I’m-trying-hard-to-pretend-that-I-do staff attitude, and see the same views as you would get with a regular ticket. All that aside, you’re in a tall building looking around. Yawn...
