Karen totally made history come alive for me in lower Manhattan using the actual city as a living reminder of the past. Her stories (not dull facts) made present Manhattan dissolve to reveal the Revolutuonary era. She knows her stuff and how to engage the listener. The area came alive with new insights. History can be exciting when presented by a true lover of history like Karen. Take this tower to SEE history.

As a lifelong New Yorker, it's sometimes hard to find new things to love about NYC - esp. in the cold of winter! But, I've recently been on a kick of learning more about Revolutionary War history, and Karen's tour is a well-researched, engaging, though-provoking journey through NYC's fascinating history during the Revolution. You have to use your imagination a bit to try to picture lower Manhattan the way it looked 240 years ago, but Karen brings with her a bunch of helpful maps, drawings and reprints of old broadsides and pamphlets which really bring the period alive. Moreover, Karen is incredibly knowledgeable, able to answer just about any question about the period and explain exactly what New York was like during those turbulent years. For anyone looking to experience the rich history of New York - even those who've lived here their whole lives - this is highly recommended!

Karen is a font of all knowledge of things relating to the events in New York before and during the Revolutionary War and of its citizens. The tour and her narrative put the events which led up to the war into perspective, and its is facscinating to put boots on the ground and see where these events took place. She connects the dots between the dusty details we learned in American history classes to real people and real places. I had worked in lower Manhatttan for many years and learned a great many things that were new to me. The best waking tour I have ever taken.
