Our tour guide, Gabby, was amazing in expertly and enthusiastically sharing with the group all kinds of fascinating Grand Central "secrets" including those regarding its architecture, people and deep history. Who knew, as a regular commuter in an out of the this beautiful and historic terminal for many years, that there were hidden stairs, tunnels and even a tennis court! The highlight for me was the opulent, secretly tucked away "Campbell Apartment" a once lordly private office of the railroad executive and millionaire John Williams Campbell, complete with Florentine décor, a coffered ceiling and a fireplace. It is now a grand bar serving light food and classic cocktails. After our tour, we stopped back for one of those classic cocktails and pondered what kind of "secret" business may have been conducted in this stately space.
