Visite à pied du métro souterrain de New York

Aperçu
Explore the world’s largest subway system, the beating heart of the city that never sleeps.

- See the architectural ghosts of the nearly forgotten and partially abandoned, Chambers Street station nicknamed the “Grand Central of Downtown”
- Discover the remnants of Union Square Station as you learn about a hidden art installation thousands of riders walk by everyday
- Use the 6 train as your own time machine as you ride through abandoned subway stations that most seasoned NYC commuters don’t know exist
- Explore the birth of the NYC subway system through amazing archival photos not available to the public
- Learn about the comically short route of the mythical “Subway before the Subway,” Alfred Ely Beach’s Pneumatic Transit System

Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.

Please note that although you will see abandoned subway stations from the train, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) doesn't grant public access into them under any circumstances.

Our tour guide was great. He was very personal and knew his stuff. We really enjoyed it. The only thing I would suggest is, instead of an ear piece, use headphones. That would block out more of the subway noise when he's talking.

Seeing it in TV many times in the past, I've never tried it before. This tour is definitely the best way to start giving the complexity of the subway system in NY. Our tour guide is well-prepared with many historic facts, attentive to all the members of the group, funny which made the experience so enjoyable.

Positives first. The guide was very knowledgeable about the New York subway. We took several trains and got to see some abandoned stations. Right now the negatives. The talk about the subway is very detailed to the point of exhaustion and in places really quite niche. You really have to be a train enthusiast to keep interested. Also the heat of the subways is too much to just stand in one place for 30 minutes while we find out which sections of New York each individual subway franchise in the 40s had or why the mosaic pattern on the station name is as it is. Also the beginning talk in Fulton is nearly 40 minutes long. My suggestion would be to take 30 minutes off the tour. Take out some of the very niche information. Get started earlier and spend less time in the heat of the stations. As it is, it is certainly worth doing only if you are really really interested in the New York subway. Also it is worth noting you don’t actually go to abandoned stations, but see them from a moving train with a flashlight.

First, let me thank you for the detailed and balanced review of our Subway tour. I appreciate you breaking it down not only for us, but for others interested in this tour. Secondly, the subway system is NYC is very hot this time of year. This is something we cannot control. But we try to find ways to make the experience as comfortable for guests this time of year. One of the reasons why the beginning of the tour is a bit stacked is because the Fulton Center hub is air conditioned. The summer version of this tour moves a little differently from other times of year, which we do to keep you out of the hot stations for any longer than you need to be there. But it should also not be 40 minutes long, so if that is the case, I will address it with our guide. Lastly, we do make it clear before you book that our tour does not enter areas closed off to the public as doing so is illegal. So we've come up with the only and, we think, unique ways of experiencing the abandoned subway stations from the air-conditioned comfort of the train. Again, thank you for the review and please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can figure out the best way to make this experience right for you. My thanks!
