We found the Tradewin Sail to be a great experience at a good price. It was a pleasant and beautiful excursion and the staff was helpful and pleasant. A definite winner.

While boarding the catamaran they have your remove your shoes. Wet feet and slick stairs are not a good combo! They tell you to watch your step but fail to tell you where to hang onto handrails or better yet offer you a hand. They also fail to warn you the boat moves a lot while docked. The stairs have no safety gripping on them and are slick as snot! I slipped and fell on the stairs, I was not drunk and not a senior citizen stairs should not be an issue. I was shocked by the lack of concern from the staff. No checking back during the cruise to see if I was ok, no offer of an ice bag, no accident report! This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I wish I could show pretty pics of the cruise instead I have a killer bruise and a sore back, to show. Having sailed on other catamarans in Mexico, the service is lacking. You have to go to the bar to get a beverage, they bring nothing to you. The seats face inward not out to the ocean. If it was not dangerous I would give it a 4.

Although the boat is tied off on the beach, the catamaran is subject to the movements of the water because we are in the ocean. It is also our policy that the crew check in on guests throughout the sail. While our seating is centralized on the catamaran, it does offer a 360 degree open view from any seat on board. Guests are also welcome to stand and walk about or changes seats during the sail as they wish. At Holokai Catamaran, we strive to offer an enjoyable and safe experience for all of our guests. The catamaran has sturdy house-like steps with rails which allows easy access to board the boat. Once on board it is a smooth ride out to the bigger rolling waves. Hardly any ocean spray onto the boat, compared to some of the other Waikiki catamarans. Bought the $10 mai-tai like alcoholic drink in its own non-spill-able-take-home-cup, which has $3 refills while you are on the boat. Non alcoholic drinks available too including a bottle of water for $2. The snacks were small bags of chips/cheezies. No loud music but was able to see a huge pod of dolphins on the way back to shore. Meet at the blue umbrella stand selling Maui Jim sunglasses, 30 min. prior to departure, which is in front of the Outrigger Reef beachfront hotel. A staff member will lead you to the boat parked in front of the Halekulani beachfront hotel, a 5 min. walk. Friendly and professional staff on a beautiful boat. An amazing way to spend 1 1/2 hours.
