This population of orca is healthy and thriving and can be found year-round in the Salish Sea. They are incredible to watch and can travel over 100 miles in a single day. We may also encounter other species of whales and wildlife, but the focus is finding Killer Whales. Our success rate is very high at over 95 percent!

If you're looking for a solid whale-watching experience, Outer Island Excursions' "Orca’s Only" tour from Anacortes, WA is a great choice. We recently took the tour and were very impressed. The boat was very comfortable and spacious, and Captain Karl and Naturalist Isabelle made sure the trip was both informative and enjoyable. Isabelle answered all our questions and shared lots of useful info. We saw some amazing wildlife, including bald eagles and a Minke whale. The best part was spending time with Orca Mom "Bam Bam" #T075C (26 years old) and her two calves, T075C3 (age 3) and T075C4 (age 1). Watching these orcas up close was a highlight of the trip and a dream come true. As a bonus, we also spotted a Humpback whale on the way back. Outer Island Excursions did an excellent job overall. If you're considering this tour, it's definitely worth it for the wildlife sightings and good service. We're already looking forward to our next trip with them!

Captain Drew was so nice and fun, his 2 deckhands/naturalists were very knowledgeable. The boat was nice, new. We traveled out of Anacortes and they took us across the Sound to Discovery Bay and the boat glided across the water, nice and smooth. We saw a transient pod of orcas moving through the bay. We also got a little side tour around Deception Pass. Would definitely recommend this company to tour.
