Whale season is never over for Captain Zodiac. Join us for a unique experience of a lifetime where we venture into the unknown! Enjoy a morning wildlife watching tour with our experienced Naturalist captains and crew, who share a passion & respect for the ocean and its inhabitants. Kona is one of the few unique coastlines in the world with numerous species of wildlife year-round. We have the opportunity to encounter 17 different resident whale & dolphin species, turtles, sharks, Hawaiian Monk seals, various species of birds and much more. Experience our military grade Zodiac Hurricanes – the same boats used by Navy seals as we explore the diverse habitat provided by Hawaii’s deep underwater geography, an ocean safari for the true adventure seeker!

Deron was a GREAT captain! On our excursion we quickly came up on a female humpback whale and her newly born calf. And there were LOTS of dolphins showing out and trying to surf our wake!! Deron was extremely knowledge about marine life and cares deeply for keeping the oceans clean and safe! Thanks so much for wonderful experience!!

What a fun trip! Cheery check-in right near the boat launch, and off we went. Our skipper gave us a quick run-through on what we might see and then we headed out for a half day. The boat is very comfortable and we got out to where interesting sea life in short order. We say pigmy sperm whales, humpback whales, short-billed marlin, a black-footed albatross, spinner dolphins, a huge tiger shark (we was this in shallow water, from the boat, looking right down on it), and more. Our skipper seemed encyclopedic in his knowledge about the sea life around us. He also took us to an area of sea cliffs, with caves and tunnels. Those of us who wanted to, got in and swam through and jumped off these features. Really fun and beautiful! Also, there were nice snacks and plenty of cold drinks. I would do this again in a heartbeat. And, yes, this is a great trip for families with kids.

That was a eventful Pelagic Wildlife Excursion!! So happy that you were able to learn so much from our naturalist guides, they really have years of experience and research backing them and are the main reason we started these trips. What a fantastic tour. The two person crew was great and knowledgeable. The tour size was small so it felt very safe and there was move to room around - no bad seats on the zodiac. We saw at least six whales, over a hundred bottle nosed and spotted dolphins, and a turtle so that was pretty awesome, especially so early in the season. If you’re looking for a small boat tour, this is a great option. I’ve done the whale watching tours on larger boats and definitely prefer this option. It is bumpy- which I love - but may not be someone’s cup of tea if they get sea sick pretty easily.
