We had a party of 11 for this show and even though my expectations were low at best.... it was worse than I could imagine. The show started off with a sales pitch for DVDs and only got worse. There was an impressionist who blatantly made fun of Ray Charles (might as well have been black-face it was so obviously mocking 🙄). They had the “doofus” who was supposed to be a National Park employee.... (the only character that in real life would require a college education) playing a backwoods idiot, that was a fantastic portrayal considering that is my fourteen year old daughter is already attempting to make that a career path. BASICALLY, if you are a “Dixie Stereotype” you will love this show.... Remember the “Good Old Boys” from the Blues Brothers and that bar they played pretending to be them? Yeah. We left after a half an hour because this wasn’t about the music or the artists contributions.... it was geared at trolling “snowflakes” and the country music artists perceived to be “snowflakes.”

Country Tonite Music Show Pigeon Forge, Tenn.... ….What a waste of two hours!!...I went to this-ahem-show last Sunday the 19th believing I would be immersed in a review of vintage/classic country music....What I experienced was so bad and disappointing it left me speechless,...Picture the classic scene in Mel Brook's 'The Producers' where after performing Springtime for Hitler the camera pans to the audience's reaction and they are seen to be all in shock....This was how I felt one-half hour into it... ...The-ahem-show consisted of:... 15 minutes-- intro where the emcee boasted of how 'good' the upcoming show was while selling music cd's to the audience........shameless hucksterism... 5 minutes-- honoring people in the audience who were married 50 years, or who had brought timeshares in local resorts...whaaa??!.. 15 minutes-- not-yet-ready-for-prime-time vocalists singing 30 second snippets of classic country music artists viz, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, etc... 10 minutes of a man playing on a harmonica....I kid you not... 15 minutes-- slapstick comedy that would not have made Yee-Haw.. Intermission (Thank you Lord) 15 minutes-- country disco?? or what passed for country in the 80s and 90s and to the present sung by the aforementioned.... 15 minutes-- more slapstick comedy...not even on the level of I Love Lucy skits from the 50s.... 5 minutes-- sappy love song which was done by the artist to show a montage in the background of his wife and his own wedding.......drivel... 5 minutes-- sappy melancholy song which was done by the artist as a tribute to his own father again with a montage in the background......drivel.. 5 minutes-- sappy song about babies still failing to understand how that had anything to do with country... 10 minutes-- gospel music.... 5 minutes-- tribute to veterans......yes, but what does that have to do with country music?.... …...One would think that that breakdown of the-ahem-show would alone be sufficient to pan it.......But no!!!......Many of the songs(?) were performed by pre-pubescent 10 year olds....I KID YOU NOT!.......Picture a 10 year old boy dressed up as a Blues Brother doing a Michael Jackson moonwalk across the stage while attempting to sing Presley”s 'Hound Dog'.......Utter hogwash.....Picture 10 year old girls similarly channeling country legends while bouncing around on stage in short petticoat skirts cut up to their underwear......I am sure this type of show will appeal to the ...”aahh, isn't that so sweet” crowd, and to the geriatric pervs in the audience who get off on kiddie porn..... ….....In closing, if Country Music had an award akin to the Razzberries this show would win it for 2019 hands down....Country Tonite should be renamed --- Country Rubbish!....

The show was very entertaining and wonderfully done - from the singing, dancing and fun aspect. At times we would have preferred hearing adults sing rather than the boy as we felt he had too much exposure and not enough of the voice we desired even though he is talented and brings lots to the show. We loved the family theme - real life family photos that were shown as the singers sang were very appreciated. Definitely well worth going to and the crowd was great when we went which made the show all the more enjoyable.
