Seeing the old style Puritan homes along with their Wampanog neighbors was very cool. The staff does an incredible job of staying in character and really pulling you into early 1600 life for them. The Mayflower II was also very cool.

As a long time member and supporter of Plimoth Plantation, it saddens me to see the 1627 Village in it's current condition. I have been visiting Plimoth Plantation (now Plimoth/Patuxet) since the late 1980's. On my recent visit 11/24/20 I found the 1627 village in very rough shape. The palisade (fence) around the village is in many areas non existent and no longer standing. A few of the houses are in very rough shape and varying states of disrepair. On the day I visited, only a few (not even a handful) of historical interpreters were in the village. And my overall impression was the Village is not being maintained properly. The Wampanoag Homesite appeared to be a "shell" of what is used to be, with non native staff working the day I was there. The eel river boardwalk to the 1627 Village was closed (as it was on my previous visit a year prior) and the overall impression I left with was the museum is not adequately maintaining or funding (or both) the exhibits at the museum. An absence of animals, and absence of interpreters, buildings and palisades in disrepair, even the visitors center is nothing like it was a few years ago. It is disappointing and sad to see the museum in it's current condition.

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit last season. Since Plimoth Patuxet Museums reopened for our 74th season April 2021, guests have been enjoying the complimentary guided tours on Monday and Tuesdays (offered through May), immersive activities with historical performers in the English Village and museum educators at the Patuxet Homesite. The Mayflower has been a BIG draw, having returned from a multi-year restoration to commemorate the 400th anniversary, and is now listed on the U.S. Register of Historic Places. For those interested in seeing the animals, this is a great time, as there are many baby goats and lambs in the English Village as part of the extended Rare Breeds Animals program at Plimoth Patuxet Museums. There are also animals in the Nye Barn located outside of the Henry Hornblower Visitor Center and in the fields located next to the main parking lot. There are many locations to see so many different animals. You mention the Eel River Boardwalk - several years ago. to accommodate ALL our guests, the museum constructed a new ADA compliant pathway from Historic Patuxet to the Craft Center and English Village exhibits and closed the boardwalk as it was NOT ADA accessible. This was one of many initiatives the museum took to make all our guests comfortable and provide easy access from one exhibit to another..

Would not recommend not worth the money. Got there in time but had to wait to enter then no one in Indian village was there to tell us the story, was told he was still getting ready. In colonial village we had to start the conversation and felt we had to pull the info from the staff.
