If you’ve ever been to an authentic luau, this isn’t it. The mediocre buffet didn’t come close and was served on a plastic plate with a plastic fork. The venue was extremely uncomfortable with no central a/c on one of the hottest days. The fans and portable air conditioning could not cool the air adequately once the crowd arrived. The majority of the show was indoors and though the performers demonstrated talent, the show was not as described in the online brochure. We adjourned to the pool deck for the fire baton twirling where we stood for the remainder of the show. In my opinion, skip this one unless they secure a different venue and caterer.

Aloha Carol, We are sorry that you did not enjoy your evening with us more and I'm sure most of that was because of the heat. The week before you came we noticed that the ac wasnt quite working right but it didn't affect our guests. Our landlord ordered new ac units, but that takes time and in the meantime we rented some portable units and added some fans to make sure our guests are comfortable. Well, as you noted a heat spell hit us and the outside temp of 105 coupled with 150 people was more than our units could handle and it got hot. I do apologize. New units came today and the rest of the summer our guests will dine and watch the show in cool air conditioning while the outside shows suffer in the 100+ degree heat.
As far as comparing us to an "authentic luau" I'd say the biggest difference is that we are not in Hawaii. I`m from Hawaii and have owned a Luau there and the biggest differences is that Hawaii is 76 degrees year round with a nice breeze and no rain and the absolute cheapest Luau there costs $125.00. As you experienced, Myrtle Beach in the summer can be above 100 degrees and it rains, a lot. Our entertainers are just as talented as the ones you'd see in Hawaii. In fact we fly in most of our team. Several of our team members compete in international competitions for Polynesian Dance, and sometimes they win. So, if someone has about 10 grand to spend, then sure. Go to Hawaii. It's amazing. Spend about $150 a person and go to a mid-range Luau. But if you're coming to Myrtle Beach you can see world class dancers and eat a delicious barbecue dinner in air conditioned comfort (after June 1st) and see Fire Knife World Champions for about 50 bucks. Mahalo and have a wonderful day.
