Your pedicab tour of downtown Raleigh usually takes about 90 minutes (minimum). (PLEASE NOTE!: I have only one pedicab, so please do not double-book for your family or group.) The tour can be customized to your interest. Learn about the history and sights of the area. Where you stop and for how long is determined by you in consultation with your guide/driver. The pedicab is designed with the passengers seated in front of the driver for an unobstructed view. The average tour covers a distance of 5-6 miles. (ATTENTION: The seat is 39 inches wide. You can book for 2 adults but have a 3rd passenger, IF it is a child and you CAN all fit comfortably!)

We'll start the tour at Mordecai Historic Park located on the last 3 acres of the former Mordecai Plantation. The Mordecai house is Raleigh's oldest house on its original foundation. Numerous buildings dating from the late 1700s and 1800s are here, including President Andrew Johnson's birthplace. You can walk the grounds of the park for free.

After a loop around the State Capitol grounds, we'll cruise up Person St. passing by Historic Oakwood neighborhood to return to our starting point of Mordecai Historic Park.

Parc historique Mordecai

My husband and I spent two hours on the front of a pedicab, being pedaled around downtown Raleigh and learning about the downtown history. It was a nerdy, fun, and unique date. Michael, the pedicab operator, skillfully navigates downtown traffic and shares about local buildings and history. We learned about Anna Cooper, Black educator and feminist, and Ella Baker, Black activist, Sir Walter Raleigh, dramatic white guy, and Andrew Johnson, infamous president. We saw a ton of parts of downtown from Mordecai to Shaw to the Capitol Building. We live downtown so we are very familiar with the area and we still learned a lot. Recommend! (Also, knowing the seat dimensions was helpful. We took out a measuring tape, compared to our couch, and decided that leaving our kid with grandma was going to make for a more pleasurable experience.)

I can’t recommend Michael and his pedicab tour enough! Michael is fun and engaging to listen to. His stories bring the history of Raleigh to life! The design of his pedicab is wonderful! Guest sit in front of his bicycle, giving us an unobstructed view! Very special, fun, unique and educational experience! Do this pedicab tour, you won’t regret it! Highly recommended!

We just finished tour. EXCELLENT!!!! Michael is an excellent tour guide. He teaches history and incorporates that passion into the tour. Very knowledgeable, interesting and thorough. Customized to your interests.
