During this 1-hour private walking tour, you'll go behind-the-scenes as you hear expert commentary about the United States’ first president and his historic estate. This tour includes some of the gardens and grounds. You'll also have the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Washington family tomb.

Following the private tour, you are welcome to continue your visit with self-guided exploration of the Museum and the Distillery & Gristmill (seasonal).

We became members of Mt. Vernon, the home of George Washington. I am so happy that we support this home of a important President. It was a fabulous Christmas tour. The Mount Vernon Women are to be congratulated on their care of this historic home. Thank the Lord, they refuse to bow down to the “cancel culture”. I was curious because during his time , GW did not decorate for Christmas his home. Our tour guide said that it wasn’t done at the time. I was expecting the home to look like homes in Williamsburg,Virginia. It still was so worth the visit. Tour guides are excellent. Every time we visit, we do learn something new.

Our Tour Guide, Mr. Marshall, was waiting for us when we arrived. He humorously explained what we would be doing on the tour. Everything was so smooth. We were not rushed and felt that we truly received a private tour by a knowledgeable, friendly guide. Being driven in a golf cart was an added bonus for those of us who are not as steady on our feet.

Well worth the price of admission to see the Father of our country's home. You get to see the inside of the mansion and room, by room detailed information of who would come and go on a daily basis.
