We have been to Savannah several times in the past and usually use the trolly as a way to get around and for a brief overview of historical information. We decided to book a private tour as our guest had a baby and we wanted to make it easier for her. Our guide has only lived in Savannah for about a year-he did train with his boss for a month (he told us this) to glean information about Savannah but unfortunately he seems to disapprove of the city. Our impression was that he snubbed the history, the tourists, Marriott, and the folklore. He insinuated that there was a ghost story associated with a building he was showing us, when our guest asked him to tell it he said ‘no’ that it was too long and he didn’t believe in it any way even though he could sell it because he was going to have to do that tour later in the evening. If this had been our first tour, we would not have learned much. I am not sure that having a ‘woke’ northerner as a tour guide in a southern city is such a good idea. We did not feel comfortable and felt like we had wasted our time and money. Would not book again.
