Visite privée à pied : pont de Brooklyn et DUMBO

Aperçu
From a city of 30, 000 people at the time of the Revolution, New York City's population mushroomed to over a million eighty years later. The rise of the Brooklyn Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time, represented the city bursting onto the world stage. After the great bridge rose out of the depths of the river floor to tower over the booming metropolis. Just three short years later the Statue of Liberty would rise in the harbor, and steel frames would allow buildings to reach for the stars, but it all started with the Brooklyn Bridge.

We booked this tour ahead of time based on the description and positive reviews. The tour guide (Irene) was well organized and reached out ahead of the tour to make sure we knew where and when to meet in Brooklyn. The tour really felt like a conversation with friends and we were free to ask questions where ever we wanted. We got lots of great information and history on the creation and evolution of Brooklyn Heights and the DUMBO area as well as fun facts! The walk is reasonably long (2.5 hours) but there are lots of opportunities for breaks and the pace is flexible. Really enjoyed the walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and great views from many different angles. Would definitely recommend this tour and we are hoping to do future tours with this company and guide!

I was worried this walk would make my feet hurt, but it didn't. The walk has regular stops for rest and to get a short history lesson which was great. The guide was full of interesting info about the bridge, its construction, and the associated graft/politics. In DUMBO, we got even more history and advice on where to get the best NY pizza. There are loads of people hawking water and souvenirs on the bridge, so it's easy to get some trinkets on the tour. We booked via getyourguide.com
