Skyline Drive
Skyline Drive is a scenic roadway in Cañon City, Colorado. It was built by inmate labor in 1905.[1] The road starts from U.S. Highway 50, with a gradual incline up the side of a ridge. When the road crests, it winds, climbs, and falls like a roller coaster until near its end, where a scenic outlook overlooks both the city (east) and the highway (west). The single-lane, one-way road rises about 800 feet above the surrounding terrain. There are no guardrails despite sharp drop offs, and the drive is about 3 miles long.

Skyline Drive

My wife and I were visiting from Florida and decided to take the half day Jeep Tour. We have done Jeep Tours before in the Smoky Mountains but this was far superior. Not only is the scenery much more breath taking but our Guide, Tom, made the trip one to remember for a lifetime. First of all, he has a very endearing personality, one that makes you feel like you have known him for a long time. It felt like we were with a member of our own family. One of the things that really stands out is you can tell how much passion he has for his job. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, the plants, trees and rocks. It was just a great, great trip and I would highly recommend this company and I would also ask for Tom, I guarantee you will not regret it.

GO TOM! Tom is the man, and we just love him to pieces. Excellent guide but also an all-around great guy. Thanks very much for your 5-star rating and really nice review. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon. Please don't forget to tell your family and friends about your jeeping adventure!

We enjoyed the off roading trip to the gorge! Our guide (I think Bob) did a great job and had fun stories to tell about the area! Lots of picture opportunities! The ride itself is very bumpy, so please be advised if that may bother you. It was freezing/windy for us, but we chose to ride covered and it was comfortable. I really enjoyed it! I do feel like the 4 hours is plenty unless you choose to do other activities!

Thank you so much for jeeping with us. Yes, your guide was Bob. Isn't he a hoot? I'm glad to hear that the crazy Colorado March weather didn't stop you from having fun on your tour. We're happy that you beat the blizzard! Please come back and see us again for another tour. Thank you for your 5-star rating too!

This was better than I expected. The guide was very good, told us lots of history. Took the back roads to the Gorge and stopped there. We were able to use our tickets to go back next day and spend more time at Gorge. Would recommend, but it is very bumpy, and not for small children.
