I attended a conference at the Convention Center. This is an amazing city and we tried to enjoy all of it! We stayed at Hotel Contessa, which is a beautiful hotel right next to the RiverWalk. We walked to the Convention Center everyday and it took about 10 mins. Our favorite place to visit in the evenings was The Pearl. It is a great outdoor spot that has shopping, restaurants, outdoor space for kids and dogs to run around, and Hotel Emma. We went to dinner at Best Quality Daughter, which is an Asian Fusion restaurant in an adorable house. Amazing! One afternoon we had a Happy Hour at Cured and tried Quail legs and had craft cocktails. They make their charcuterie in house and it was yummy! We also took scooters and ventured to Rosario's where we had Tex Mex tacos, salsa, and margaritas. There is a beautiful neighborhood behind Rosarios and we rode our scooters to look at the houses. When we were going through the neighborhood, we found an outdoor bar named the Friendly Spot Ice House. It had a great fenced in playground for kids. We visited La Panaderia Bakery two times on our visit because the food was delicious for breakfast. Fresh baked pastries, desserts, coffee, and mimosas. The line was halfway down the block, but it is worth the wait!
This city has a great balance of tourist spots, as well as non tourist spots. We choose the non tourist, but it has a little bit of everything. We were not disappointed with any of our meals and came home a little heavier. The culture includes children and dogs. Almost everywhere we went you could have your children or dogs with you.
