This trip is the real deal! Two of us joined about 75 other passengers on the morning trip, and we really didn't care if we saw any whales - just three hours out in the Pacific in a sturdy boat sounded wonderful, and we weren't disappointed. The crew of 4 or 5 included at least 2 marine biologists, and they were all friendly and very knowledgeable as we headed straight out into the Pacific, going more than 10 miles out, so far that land was barely visible. Every minute the crew was intently watching for sea life, but alas no whales were to be seen, possibly due to Naval exercises gong on using sonar, which apparently can keep whales away. Personally that didn't keep us from thoroughly enjoying the trip, and we didn't get sick - but several others weren't so lucky and seasickness took its toll on many passengers who stayed on the lower deck. None of us on the upper deck got sick. A word of advice - if there's any doubt at all about your seaworthiness, take the pills the company recommends!
As the boat was motoring close to home the crew was highly apologetic about our not seeing any whales or dolphins, they explained why that may have been the case, and as we got off the boat each of us was given a free pass good for a trip any time in the future, with no expiration date. That's what I call a guarantee well kept!
