We went out on a drizzly Tuesday morning. Perfect weather in my opinion. We did see some California sea lions in the marina. They offered priority boarding for those with disabilities which was great. The dock wasn't in great shape, but it is right over the water, so understandable. We had to turn around about ten minutes out for a medical issue, but they extended the tour to make up the time.
We did get to see two minke whales, a harbor seal, an elephant seal, and a mako shark that actually breeched the water right in front of our boat! There were also two groups of bottlenose dolphins and lots of sea lions lounging along the docks.
I will say the water was pretty rough and I did get seasick. The crew was nice and helpful though. I did have to pay $3 for some Dramamine but did get ginger ale and peppermints for free. If you're not used to choppy waters, maybe bring your own.
We did not go during prime whale migration time, so I didn't expect to see blue whales. Check migration times to see what's around when.
