We went out on July 3rd. No whales, but saw the same pod of dolphins everyone else is seeing. It was fantastic! Loved it and shared it with my daughter. The crew was great, very friendly and engaging. Will absolutly save the coupon recieved for the next trip to San Diego. FYI Wear sunscreen, even on a cloudy day.

This is the second time I have taken this tour and I have been skunked both times with whales. There are plenty of dolphins on this trip and on July 10th there were 3 pods of dolphins that formed into 1. This is very rare from what the crew was saying. It was relaxing and the crew were very nice and knowledgeable. If you want something affordable to do in San Diego as a family this is the thing to do.

We went on the morning 3-hour whale watching tour with this company on July 9 and were very happy with the experience, even though we didn't see any whales. Yes, technically dolphins are whales, and we saw LOTS of dolphins, including little ones. :) We also saw 3 ocean sunfish (mola mola), which are very strange and interesting. The naturalist onboard did a good job of adding information to the sensory experience of cruising out over the open ocean, and every member of the crew was cheerful and helpful, never obnoxious or overbearing. Toward the end of the tour, they even bought out a big piece of baleen for people to feel and hold, explaining how whales use it to filter food from the ocean. We paid $22 per person, which is reasonable, I think. Some people did get seasick, despite the crew's best efforts to have people take medication, ride in the back of the boat, stay out where they could see the horizon and feel the breeze on their faces, and drink ginger ale. But the water was slightly rougher than normal, we were told. Some of us loved the active ride in the bow of the boat- very invigorating!
