Visite guidée en kayak du tunnel de mangrove de Sarasota

Aperçu
There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

Our family of 4 had a fantastic time with Ian as our tour guide on the mangrove tunnel trip! It started with a bit of exploring in a fairly calm cove. Here we were visited by a friendly Cormorant doing some fishing and a manatee, which swam right under our son's kayak! Ian shared interesting facts about the plants and animals we were seeing throughout the tour. In the cove, Ian found several sea urchins and passed them around to anyone interested in holding one. Next, we made our way closer to the mangroves, where we stopped again to check out some sea slugs that Ian found and passed around for inspection. We appreciated Ian's knowledge of the area, as well as his sense of humor. Finally, we made our way through the mangrove tunnels, which were narrow and shady passageways that felt almost otherworldly. We saw three different types of mangrove trees, fish and the tiny crabs that live on and around their roots. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone. Kayaking experience is helpful but not required. Side note: At the end, we heard that one of the other groups didn't see any manatees, so don't go thinking that's a guarantee!

My family took a 1:30 kayak tour while vacationing in Sarasota for the week in February. Book early, tours sell out. We bought spf shirts and hats at a local gift shop and grabbed water bottles before we set out. Marissa was a fantastic guide, personable and knowledgeable. It was a lovely afternoon on the water.
