Finally, we'll see the Elms. This masterpiece was designed for the coal baron Edward Julius Berwind, and inspired by France's Château d'Asnières. Here we'll want to slow down as much as possible to hear about the Berwinds -- and maybe pull inside for a tour!

When we spot Mr. Belmont's statue, we'll turn off Bellevue. We're now heading towards some of the largest and finest mansions in Newport -- and they're technically not even on this famously expensive avenue! As we drive, we'll learn a bit about Belmont -- whose fascinating story we'll pick back up when we see another grand house later on the tour.

Ochre Court will immediately arrest our eyes! This châteauesque mansion cost of $4.5 million... in 1892. And it certainly shows! Now the centerpiece of the Salve Regina University, this mansion isn't open for tours... but that won't stop us from learning all about it's rich and fascinating history!

As we head back towards Bellevue Avenue, we'll pause to check out the delicate beautfy of Chateau-sur-Mer. Not only is the first Gilded Age mansion in Newport, it also boasts one of the most beautiful, green, sprawling gardens. Both the house and the gardens are open for an optional tour.

Quand nous apercevrons la statue de M. Belmont, nous éteindrons Bellevue. Nous nous dirigeons maintenant vers certaines des plus grandes et des plus belles demeures de Newport - et techniquement, elles ne se trouvent même pas sur cette célèbre avenue chère ! Pendant que nous conduisons, nous en apprendrons un peu plus sur Belmont - dont nous reprendrons l'histoire fascinante lorsque nous verrons une autre grande maison plus tard au cours de la visite.

Cour Ocre
Ocre Court va immédiatement nous arrêter ! Ce manoir château a coûté 4,5 millions de dollars... en 1892. Et ça se voit ! En revenant vers l'avenue Bellevue, nous nous arrêterons pour admirer la beauté délicate de Château-sur-Mer. Non seulement est le premier manoir de l'âge d'or à Newport, mais il possède également l'un des plus beaux jardins verdoyants et tentaculaires. La maison et les jardins sont ouverts pour une visite facultative.

This app was great. It was easy to follow. And picked up from where you left off (if you got up out of the car in walked over to look at the mansion or scenery) so you didn’t have to start from the very beginning each time.

Best way to tour the area. Able to drive and stop at your own place - and do so over multiple days. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested in seeing the sites.

Couldn't get the tour to synch correctly with my location. Audio cut out before I left the locations. Instructions were poor, not user friendly. Don't waste your time with this.

Sorry for the inconvenience you had, John! The app should work with GPS. It starts the audio stories automatically when you are near an attraction. It has not recognized your GPS. It may not have gotten location access permission when it began. Please return it with location permission if you are in the area. In any case, I will happily exchange the tour with any of my other 100 tours in the US. Please let me know.
