My wife arranged the Scottsdale Trolley Food Tour for my birthday. Although we live in the Phoenix area and have visited Scottsdale numerous times, the Food Tour did not disappoint in showing us new restaurants and giving us more background on a city we thought we knew. Andy was our guide and did an excellent job. He made everyone feel welcome, was very knowledgeable about Scottsdale and the restaurants, and had a great sense of humor. Our group had fifteen individuals. There was a bridal party as well as several Canadian guests. We had a great time talking and getting to know others in the group. The pace was just right in the tour and this time of year, November, the weather was perfect. All the restaurants and shops we stopped at were outstanding. The owners and staff of each establishment were friendly and hospitable. Highlights included homemade pizzas at Craft 64, decadent truffles at Classic Cakes & Confections, delicious tacos and tequila at Barrio Queen, and checking out the secret room at The Beverly. We highly recommend the tour!

We took the Trolley Tour in Scottsdale. We originally signed up for the walking tour, but not enough people signed up so they offered us the trolley tour instead. The trolley tour had quite a bit of walking as well. We really enjoyed seeing the Valley Ho Hotel. It has a unique mid century retro design, with all the decor, music etc. it was a great place to have a drink before the tour started. Our young tour guide, Joe, was pretty good. He admittedly has not done this particular tour many times. His boss Jessica joined us for part of the tour and it seemed like she had more historical information and anecdotes to share with us. But Joe did pretty well. I think he would have impressed us more if he hadn't made such a point of constantly reminding us that some of these things were new to him. We went to six places. Craft 64 was fabulous, beer and great crispy artisanal pizza. The Great Australian Bakery was unique and delicious - meat pie and a dessert pastry. We also liked Barrio Queen's tacos. Tea Time was a bit of a bore, and not conducive to a group experience. The cake truffle at Classic Cakes was delicious, but again, not a convivial, sit around the table experience. We liked the atmosphere and decor at the Beverly but I thought the food was terrible. Cold buffalo wings, and melted banana foster with no caramelization. Not a bad tour, but not great. It was not very expensive either. I'd rather Pay more and have more restaurants like the first two!

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for making the change in tours. We really work hard to line up the best restaurants partners and also give a variety of food and drinks on out tour. I am glad to hear you enjoyed a majority of the stops and because we are limited to 3 hours and have 6 different stops, we make sure our guest get sit at 4 of the stops and the other two are more of the traditional food tour stops where you can sample and look around. It sounds like what you wanted is more of a Dine Around which we offer in Downtown Phoenix. It's a evening dine around and it's cost a little more but we go to 5 fantastic stops and sitting down at everyone.

I went on the trolley good tour through Scottsdale yesterday. It was our guide, Joe, first solo tour and he did a great job. Everything was well organized and he explained the reasons behind their choices etc. We also had a great time with the other people on our tour - nothing bonds people better than good food and drinks!!! I'm only giving this a 3/5 though because the tour itself was lacking any sort of history. It's hard to talk while you are walking but there was nothing stopping the tour guides to actually sit at the table with us and tell us a bit of the history of the town we are visiting. I have been on a quite a few food tours amongst many different countries and this was the first where the guide just stood to the side instead of joining in with the table. This was a big missed opportunity to give your customers that extra bit of attention and to go above and beyond.

We appreciate your feedback, and will definitely work on training our new guides to provide plenty of history on our tours and have a little more conversation as you guys are eating. We do have a policy that our tour guides can not sit down and eat with the guest, the reason for this policy, is so they can take care of all the behind the scenes stuff and guest can enjoy a food tour that runs smoothly and seamlessly . If you love history- we recommend the Historic Phoenix Food Tour, it has alot of great history along with a hidden speakeasy bar.
