As native New Yorkers, it isn't often that my wife and I do "touristy" things. We've been to Central Park a number of times but usually stay in the southern part, closer to Columbus Circle. When I saw the description for this tour however, I realized it was something different. I begins on the west side of the park at 103rd Street and winds its way through wooded areas and up hills ending up one the EAST side of the park! The roughly 3.5 mile hike (and it is a hike, not a walk) takes roughly 2.5 hours.
When we went, it was gorgeous day though a bit on the hot and humid side. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring PLENTY of water!
Our guide, Fred, was great! He was knowledgeable about the park and its history and often stopped at interesting points to point out fantastic views and hidden features!
This is a GREAT tour for anyone who is comfortable trekking through the woods and thinks they know Central Park -- you don't!
