As native New Yorkers, it isn't often that my wife and I do "touristy" things. We've been to Central Park a number of times but usually stay in the southern part, closer to Columbus Circle. When I saw the description for this tour however, I realized it was something different. I begins on the west side of the park at 103rd Street and winds its way through wooded areas and up hills ending up one the EAST side of the park! The roughly 3.5 mile hike (and it is a hike, not a walk) takes roughly 2.5 hours. When we went, it was gorgeous day though a bit on the hot and humid side. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring PLENTY of water! Our guide, Fred, was great! He was knowledgeable about the park and its history and often stopped at interesting points to point out fantastic views and hidden features! This is a GREAT tour for anyone who is comfortable trekking through the woods and thinks they know Central Park -- you don't!

My husband recently participated in the Secret Places of Central Park tour. Bruce did an extraordinary job leading the tour and showing us those areas of Central Park North we had not visited before. Without his guidance and narratives we would have never discovered and learned about the geography and history behind these "secret" places. The attached pictures will give you an idea of the areas we visited during the walking tour. Bruce is a very experienced and passionate tour guide, who truly impressed us with the his level of knowledge of New York history and particularly of Central Park. He kept the group very engaged with his narratives, which were graciously complemented by the printed materials he brought along to share with the tour participants. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York who want to experience Central Park in a unique, educational and fun way. Thanks so much Bruce for a memorable experience, we look forward to participating in another tour with you in the near future.
