On Saturday August 17 I went on the boat tour and it was amazing. There were only three adults and one child on the boat and it was like having a private tour. Captain Alyssa (sp?) was very knowledgeable about the entire area , the wildlife and local lore and history. We visited quite a few springs including Jurassic spring, Hunter spring, Tarpon spring and a few others whose names escape me. To see the location of these underwater springs, which gush forth thousands of gallons of water, is amazing. We nosed into some small areas and saw two gators. At one location a huge manatee swam under the boat and I got some great photos and videos. Bird watching was great too and included cormorants, egrets and a bird I had never seen before, snake birds (Aningha) whose nest was in the top of some bushes on a tiny little hammock. The lore around Lolly Island was fascinating. In the 30s a man and his wife ( the Lollys) lived there and raised 17 children. I am going to try to research their history as it was fascinating. I highly recommend this tour.
