I booked for two people, my wife and I. I should have known it would be bad from the beginning when the instructor refused to use my name even after being corrected three times in the store, and filling out forms with my name that he looked at. My name is Aaron. It's not that hard. To him I was Eric. Whatever, it happens. I didn't get his name, but had triangle tattoos up the right side of his chest. To get out to the water you needed to carry your boards through about three city blocks, barefoot and without a mask but they said it was right outside and we wouldn't need anything. Once we hit the water, I became invisible to the instructor. I mean my wife is hot, but I'm paying for the lessons, and my name was on the booking. He towed her out and by the time I caught up with them he had already gone over a lot of stuff with her, and said it was time to paddle out further. Again towed her leaving me to catch up. Catch up, and time to move again. Rinse and repeat this several times until I'm just exhausted and I have spent most of the time paddling to try and keep up with an experienced surfer and lifeguard. His sole focus was on her. She was able to at least try several waves with his instruction and she had a good time. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say the only four instructions in the water I received were "scoot back on your board", "moving over here", " Okay, this is the last wave your time is up, try to catch it" and "oh good try, better luck next time, go to shore now". When we got back to the store our locker was unlocked (they provided the lock) and our stuff was moved around from where I left it. I guess moral of the story is if you have lady bits you're going to get a good lesson, but guys are out of luck. Oh and leave everything at home/hotel. Also, hit us with a $5 shirt rental fee. Plenty of other spots that will teach so I'd look at those instead. Photo below is pretty much how the whole lesson went, me way behind and him cozied up to my wife.

59 years old and always wanted to surf at Waikiki beach. Never surfed before but the instructors at Big Wave Daves got me up on the board, and even better got a picture as proof. Dream come true for me. Thank you for a wonderful time.
