The Ala Wai Canal is an artificial waterway in Honolulu, Hawaii which serves as the northern boundary of the tourist district of Waikiki. It was created in 1928 to drain the rice paddies and swamps which would eventually become Waikiki. It also serves as a primary drainage corridor for the rivers and streams that run through central and east Honolulu. The canal runs from just northwest of Kapahulu Avenue along the length of Waikiki, then turns southwest to empty into the Pacific Ocean. Bridges cross the canal at McCully Street, Kalākaua Avenue, and Ala Moana Boulevard. Ala Wai Boulevard runs parallel to the west side of the canal in Waikiki.

We drop you off at the tunnel to Diamond Head State Park, you will pay a $5 fee to enter the park, made payable to the State of Hawaii. Enjoy your time to summit the crater and take lots of photos. When you are done we will pick you back up and continue the second half of the tour.

Canal Ala Wai

It is a great trip for both of us with Lisa. She is a great tour guide! She took us to all destinations. She took pictures of us. She gave the info of each site that we stopped by. She took care of visitors carefully and nicely. You definitely should take this tour when coming to Honolulu .

Lisa was the most energetic and knowledgeable tour guide we could have had! Her tour in the Shaxi gave us such great access to the local scene throughout Waikiki. A highlight of our trip - highly recommend!

Lisa was a great guide, took a lot of pictures and was very informative. We had a great time. Hike was a little rough near the top but so worth it. Amazing views once you’re up there.
