Your experience starts by meeting at the Defiance boathouse in No Name, CO in beautiful Glenwood Canyon (which is just 2 miles east of the community of Glenwood Springs). There, we will gear you up, talk about the trip, and introduce you to your river pro. Then we'll shuttle up the canyon to Shoshone where we will put-in on the Colorado River. You'll find action right away as we navigate down the Class III-IV Shoshone rapids. We'll follow that up with 45-minutes of scenic canyon float with occasional splashes and opportunities to jump in the water through lower Glenwood Canyon before arriving back at Defiance HQ. Class I–IV Trip Length: 60 to 75 minutes (dependent on river flow) Multiple departures daily. (Check the schedule for specific departure times.) Check-in is 45 minutes prior to departure Requirements: Paddlers must weigh at least 50lbs to raft through the Shoshone rapids. Paddlers under 50lbs (but over 30lbs) will join us at Grizzly Creek, which is just below Shoshone rapids.

Was a little nervous because I accidentally booked an advanced trip but our instructor Greg made us feel very comfortable and we had an amazing time. Would 100% do it again.

When we arrived they would not allow my grandson to go. They said he was considered a minor and an adult had to go with him. I have a bad neck and my husband just had surgery and 19 stitches in his chest so we could not go. They said I needed to get with you for a refund. I sent you an email.

Hi, Gloria. We communicated with TripAdvisor/Viator to provide you with a refund. Unfortunately, the nuances of your circumstances often don't get communicated between a third-party entity such as TripAdvisor/Viator and the company offering the experience. No doubt it's a shared frustration and a communication channel that needs improving. In limited situations, we do allow unaccompanied minors on our raft trips. But unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to discuss your particular circumstance due to the communicative challenges imposed by a third-party booking. That said, with the high water environment (Class IV) we were facing on the day of the selected experience, best practices do not allow for unaccompanied minors on our experiences. This is out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of the individual, and those individuals sharing the raft. It is also important to Defiance Rafting that those individuals engaging in a higher-risk activity have the capacity to acknowledge the potential risks and provide informed consent to participate in that activity. I hope the frustrations you've experienced in this attempt at introducing your grandson to the thrills of whitewater rafting don't impede future efforts to get on the river, wherever that opportunity presents itself. The river's a pretty special place; I'm bummed we couldn't make it happen this time around. I hope you have an excellent time with your Grandson. I had a disability everyone was so helpful. We were greeted as we came to the business and the guides were so friendly and informative and they gave the safety lessons. Alex was a delight to work with as he was my helper helping me go down any inclines and over rocks and helping me get into the raft as I was learning to walk again from spinal fusion surgery in March. The trip was delightful and fun Alex was very informative and pointed out many things during our trip. If I had to rate Alex on a scale of 1 to 5 I would give him a five because he is very kind talks very nicely to people and is very helpful when you need the extra help. Thank you Alex for your kindness and all the things you do to make our vacations wonderful
