Anyone who loves to read or is interested in writing in any form should visit here. It's not just info about novelists in here; the museum goes beyond fiction and showcases journalists, playwrights, poets, and copywriters. The exhibits are very interactive too which I really enjoyed. I'd also recommend this museum to people with kids as they have a nice children's room and do events such as story time.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon when admission was free on this particular day. The museum is close to the heart of Chicago downtown, and is a welcome respite from the crowds. Easy to walk past the low-key entrance because the museum is on the building's second floor, with elevator access. Inside, the museum is relatively small, but includes a number of interesting interactive displays that focus mainly on the practice of writing, using examples from the iconic writers. I was pleased to see some boldness in the choice of quotations. This would be a good place for students and aspiring writers to get some encouragement. A nice touch is the 'Story of the Day' where you can use an old-school typewriter to contribute to a collectively written story initiated by the staff. You didn't really need to see all of the shops on Michigan Avenue anyway.

In a city packed with wonderful (but enormous) museums, this little gem proved fascinating and worthwhile. Lots of interactive fun for adults as well as kids. Nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city for a few hours.
