Visited Beauvoir and the Presidential Library on the July 4th weekend. The tour of Beauvoir was interesting and the inside of the house is beautiful. However the ground seem to need much work, especially the rose garden.

Informational tour of the years after the war of Jefferson Davis and his time living in the old school house while writing. His integrity was marveled after inheriting the "Beautiful View" home and continuing to pay rent to the brother even after owning Beauvoir. Katrina took a big swipe and so much was lost and has had to be rebuilt. Most of the furnishings were lost and period pieces have been worked into the rooms. The guided tour spoke mainly of he home origins as it was initially called "Orange Plantation" despite there was no orange plantation. Only the main hall is fully open to move about; the wall and ceiling painting was very tedious to replicate. It was nice and even cook sitting on the front veranda with the wind blowing from the Gulf but exit to the rear (north) and it was stifling. The rest of the rooms were viewed through glass doors that exited to the upstairs veranda. Walked through the Library and was happy to learn that while they lost some library distinction, the library remains and "who cares". It was too hot to go to the cemetery. Katrina took the old hospital and dormitory . . .

I visited Beauvoir Home during my recent visit to Biloxi. I am so glad that I chose this as a stop on my personal itenerary. The views from the home are spectacular and the history is rich. I enjoyed a long walk on the beautiful grounds and taking photographs. Rob was my tour guide and did an excellent job sharing the history of the home with personability and enthusiasm! They also have an awesome gift shop with unique items. I hope to come back and bring my family in the future.
