Visite à pied du Skyway - Minneapolis

Aperçu
A great tour year-round, especially if you're visiting in the winter months! Minneapolis is home to the largest, contiguous skyway system in the world! Originally designed to counter the 1950s post war suburban boom by revitalizing the city's retail core, today the second story walkways connect 80 city blocks and meander more than 9 miles. This is a great way to see the city - inside and out - during cool weather, hot weather, rainy days and the brutally long Minnesota winter, so pretty much year-round! There are so many treasures within downtown's unique architectural landscape, and the skyway system is sometimes the only way to see them. The skyway is such a huge part of our city's identity, the Replacements even wrote a song about it, aptly named Skyway.

Choosing Mpls City & Skyway Tours, you are supporting a local, woman-owned small business with a big heart.

(Please note, this is a walking tour. We will walk up to two miles, with breaks. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.)

We'll ascend into the second-story walkway from inside the Foshay Tower to begin the tour. We'll walk through original department stores, new department stores, old banks turned modern restaurants, the widest skyway, the shortest skyway, the double skyway, buildings showcasing impressive collections of public art, sports venues - home to the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx, as well as some of the most historical buildings still standing, with memorabilia on display, in the skyway, of course. We'll return to the Foshay Tower where you can take advantage of the opportunity to check out the city from the 31st floor of the only outdoor observation deck in the city!

Jessica was a fantastic tour guide and the skyways were very cool to experience and learn more about the history. Lots of unique foodie places and shops along the way, though it looks like even more to come back. My daughter and I had a great time! We would never have thought you could see so much of Minneapolis via skyways.

The tour gives a tremendous overview of downtown, the history of the skyway, various buildings, and other fun facts along the way, such as filming locations of TV shows. Jessica is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the tour and is a fantastic guide. I strongly recommend!

Hi Jeff! Thank you for this kind review. I enjoyed showing you the city from the second story. I think the Timberwolves won that game you came to see?! Maybe you'll return for some summer weather this year. :)

Jessica did a great job. We enjoyed the historic info and the public art was an unexpected bonus. She knows her stuff and the tour was perfectly paced.

Hi Pam! It was my pleasure showing you two around the city. There's nothing I love more than when someone appreciates the little gems as much as I do. :) Thank you for joining me.
