I wanted to give 3.5 stars due to the cost but can only do whole numbers. We had an excellent day. Our Detours driver was Dan and he picked up 5 of us in Phoenix at 4am. Because there were only 5 of us we were in an SUV instead of a smaller bus which probably wasn't as comfortable as I was thinking it would be. Dan is a great guide and told us the history of the region and stories all the way to the canyon and back. I would recommend him to anyone. We started off at Lower Antelope Canyon using Ken's Tours as the onsite operator. The guide was awesome! He helped everyone set their cameras up properly to take in the breathtaking canyon walls and color. I can now cross this one off of my bucket list. Amazing tour that takes about 1 hour. After lunch in Page, Az (burgers were okay but not stellar) Dan drove us to Glen Dam for a while to take some photos and then we headed south to the Horseshoe Bend. It was fairly busy and we were under a time constraint. I jogged around to see the main observation area and then scrambled up the rocks over to the north to get some better views and pictures. Overall it was a great day but incredibly long if you are coming from Phoenix. Basically 4am to 8pm by the time I was back and offloaded. Detours and Dan did a great job but the day tour was incredibly expensive. Now that I've done it once I would either rent a car from Phoenix or take a much closer tour from Las Vegas and save several $100s for the day. The tour site is well marked and only costs about $50 USD for the ticket plus another $10 or $20 for the reservation pass. I paid $370 USD for the day which came to just over $500 CDN. Sad face :(
